Million dollar cleanup effort begins in South Los Angeles.

As part of a concentrated plan, Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren Price and LA Sanitation (LASAN) will join forces to reduce trash and abandoned waste in Council District Nine. Price announced a $1 million campaign to alleviate trash and debris, mattresses, old furniture, and other large items that are improperly discarded. The effort will include a “Clean & Green” partnership, supplemental cleanups, and heighten awareness of chronic dumping areas.

With $300,000 from Councilmember Price, LASAN will increase services in the council district providing three dedicated crews to perform daily sweeps and identify and treat chronic dumping locations. Increased bulky item pickup service and expanded trash collection are part of the extra service. The public education component, overseen by the community services team, will engage neighborhood councils, area schools, and other community groups to disseminate information about LASAN services.

Residents may call 311 or use the MyLA311 app to request bulky item collection or call LASAN's Customer Care Center at 1-800-773-4289.
