FREE Used Tire Recycling Collection Events

Los Angeles Sanitation is hosting six collection events throughout the city giving you a chance to finally dispose used and old tires the right way! 

The collection events just started and will run through end of June. Make sure to check out the tire requirements for more info!

Compton Creek Cleanup @ Del Amo Metro Station - Friends of the Los Angeles River

It’s time to roll up your sleeves and show your love for the LA River – the Great LA River CleanUp’s back for 2017! Registration is open now – join today and be part of the largest urban river cleanup in America.

Last year 9,000 volunteers shattered records at the 2016 CleanUp and hauled off more than 70 tons of trash. This year we’re going to tear up the record books again with another record-breaking CleanUp!

Compton Creek is a tributary to the Los Angeles River with herons, egrets and butterflies. The Lower Compton Creek CleanUp @ Del Amo Station takes place along the Metro Blue Line Station, located on Del Amo Blvd at Santa Fe Avenue in Rancho Dominguez.

To participate you must register and turn in a completed waiver at the CleanUp.

Bowtie Parcel Cleanup @ Fletcher Drive - Friends of the LA River

The Bowtie Parcel is located off Fletcher Drive in the scenic Glendale Narrows, the central and longest natural area of the LA River. The site features historic Fletcher Drive Bridge (completed in 1927). The soft bottom river is home to ducks, cormorants, herons, and egrets.  The site is just across from the beginning of the River’s Recreation Zone begins where both kayaking and fishing are allowed from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Today the site is home to The Bowtie Project, a partnership between Clock Shop and California State Parks – read more.

Steelhead Park in Elysian Valley is one a series of about a dozen small parks along the LA River in the Glendale Narrows. Designed by North East Trees, the park features native vegetation, a small outdoor classroom, and artistic gates and fences commemorating the steelhead trout that used to be plentiful in the LA River. The river here is soft bottom, with tall trees and plenty of ducks.

To participate you must register and turn in a completed waiver at the CleanUp.

Located along the breathtaking Elysian Valley bike path, the Frog Spot is Friends of the Los Angeles River’s summer gateway to the L.A. River. The Frog Spot serves as a community gathering space, launch pad for River tours and trips, and an exciting performance venue.

Marsh Park in Elysian Valley has a grassy area and some play equipment – a frog and snake – where children can climb.  This site is on the Elysian Valley Bike Path and has a nice little waterfall.
